about

OML is a non-profit collective in Berlin and is part of the Give Something Back To Berlin community. Its aim is to demonstrate the power of community and celebrate cultural differences. The Redox compilation is the first release from the collective and is born out of channeling creativity in a safe space for vulnerable or underprivileged
people.

Every purchase of the digital release goes directly into funding the project’s continued existence. If you are able to, we encourage you to donate a bit more than the symbolic price for the purchase of the compilation.

Redox captures a moment in the creative evolution of a group of OML students. Future bass, ghostly harmonies, crunching techno, cinematic dub, latin chanson and delicate electronica all fuse together over these 7 tracks in a fearlessly bold, eclectic and seamless musical journey.

The compilation is an eclectic yet cohesive journey, featuring tracks like Idil Abla’s “Bumble” where cavernous dub reverbs grow out of urban dark techno, as if Burial had relocated to the streets of Berlin. Elsewhere MINQ focuses their love of astral projection into “Five” where the sci-fi melodicism of golden age Detroit Techno merges with a very contemporary future bass, while Maret creates the trip-hop enthused dreamscape of “Liz”, full of subtle melancholic harmonies and a cinematic wideness.

Over the 7 tracks, Redox captures the sound of a collective spreading its wings. The release highlights the importance of community music-making, and what can happen when artists from often marginalized and vulnerable backgrounds are given a safe space to create.
